Our Coaches

Garry Palmer
Garry is an ASI Level 4 Master Surfing Coach, holds surf rescue, advanced resuscitation and senior first aid qualifications. He has extensive experience in the surf industry. He's been surfing since he was 12 and holds various state, 2001 Masters and 2004 Legends surfing titles.
He is a qualified education teacher, an Australian Coaching Council Level 1 coach and is a qualified kayak and canoe instructor. The Australian coaching council has awarded Garry with the Coach Recognition Award for outstanding coaching.
Garry is also recognised as one of Australia's leading recreational surfing educators. He writes surfing lesson curriculum for TAFES, colleges and schools, organises and structures curriculum for surf camps and prepares and instructs primary and high school groups in surf

Sally Mackinnon
Sally is a bubbly and enthusiastic fully qualified fitness trainer (Your Fitness friend) and loves to pass on the joy of Surfing.
She can not only help you with your surfing, but can give you hints to increase your fitness, and keep you happy and healthy. She is also now running Surf Specific Yoga classes on Saturday mornings and thursday mornings. You can come along to Yoga and then either Free Surf or have a Surf Lesson with us.

Danae Coltellacci
Danae comes to us with a lot of experience working at a Surf School in Spain. She is very popular with our clients and particularly likes working with our little groms

Maria Diepenbrock
Maria has been teaching surfing for many years. She has owned her own Surfing and Wake boarding school in the Canary Islands in Spain and has come to Australia to work with Surf Easy.

Alicia Russel
Trainee Coach
Alicia learned to surf with surf easy when she was just a little grom. She was instantly hooked and her family moved her down to the coast so she could surf all the time. Now she is practically part of the family and in the process of getting her level 1

Eddie Reed
Eddie is a level 1 surf coach and Life guard. His commitment and personality shines as he coaches both individuals and groups. One of Eddie's passions is people with special needs which he coaches with care, fun and compassion.
Like all Gold Coast Surf Schools, we operate on a maximum of 8 students to a coach, but the average- even over our busy summer, was 6 students to a coach. We wont put you out with a huge group, we want you to have a good time on your first lesson, and have a chance for plenty of waves.
Surf Easy was chosen as the preferred provider for the Qld TAFE Diploma in Event Management-Surfing and the Qld TAFE Certificate in Sport & Recreation -Surfing. Garry Palmer has been chosen, as a level 4 instructor , to provide Surf Coach course in various overseas locations.
